Compliance-first design
Paysumo is built on the principle that compliance is not a checkbox, but a core operating requirement. From onboarding to settlement, every process is designed to meet anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CFT), sanctions and data-protection obligations.
Our compliance team is independent of sales and operations, reports directly to senior management, and has authority to suspend accounts or transactions when risk requires it.
Customer due diligence (CDD)
Before any account is activated, we verify identity, corporate structure, beneficial ownership and business activity. We use a combination of document review, electronic identity verification, adverse-media screening and manual review.
Ongoing due diligence continues throughout the relationship, including periodic reviews and triggered reassessments when business models, volumes or risk profiles change.
Enhanced due diligence (EDD)
Higher-risk customers, jurisdictions, business models or transaction patterns are subject to enhanced controls. EDD may include source-of-funds checks, additional beneficial ownership disclosure, more frequent monitoring and senior-approval requirements.
Sanctions screening
We screen customers, counterparties and transactions against applicable sanctions lists, law-enforcement alerts and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) databases. Matches are escalated, investigated and, where required, reported to the relevant authority.
Transaction monitoring
Automated systems and trained analysts monitor transactions for suspicious activity, structuring, unusual velocity or other red flags. Alerts are triaged, documented and escalated in accordance with our internal procedures.
Record keeping and reporting
We maintain records of customer identification, due diligence, transactions and risk decisions for the period required by applicable law. Suspicious activity is reported to regulators where we are legally obligated to do so.
Staff training and audit
Compliance training is mandatory for all relevant staff and refreshed regularly. Our program is also subject to internal audit and external review to ensure it remains effective and current.
